Export Motor Selection Guide

Pick the right motor voltage, frequency, IP rating and standard for your destination country.

We export industrial motors to Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. This guide helps you choose the right voltage, frequency, climate rating, IP protection and certification for your market. Choose a motor matched to your grid, environment and standard—not just by power.

How to choose (checklist)

  1. Confirm the grid: voltage (e.g. 380 V, 400 V, 415 V, 440 V) and frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) at the installation site, and whether the supply is three-phase.
  2. Check the ambient: temperature range, humidity, dust, altitude and whether it is washed down. This decides the IP rating and de-rating.
  3. Pick the right frame family: YE3 premium-efficiency induction for general duty, Y / YKK high-voltage for larger and MV loads, TYPKK permanent-magnet for energy savings, and ZZJ800 DC for cranes and heavy starting torque.
  4. Confirm the standard: IEC 60034 as the base, plus GOST / EAC, IS, INMETRO or SANS where needed.
  5. Size the motor correctly: match starting torque and speed-torque curve to the driven load (crusher, pump, fan, conveyor, crane).

Frequently asked questions

What motor voltage is used in India?

India commonly uses 415 V, 50 Hz three-phase supply (older sites 380 V). Motors should be wound for 415 V / 50 Hz to avoid derating.

What voltage and frequency are used in Brazil?

Brazil runs mostly 380 V / 440 V at 60 Hz. A motor built for 50 Hz must be de-rated or re-wound when used on 60 Hz.

What affects motor selection in Russia and the CIS?

Cold climate down to -40 °C needs low-temperature insulation and space heaters; and EAC / GOST certification is required for the EAEU market.

Why does high altitude affect motor power?

Above 1000 m, thinner air cools the motor less, so continuous power is de-rated roughly 1% for every 300 m of altitude.

What IP rating do I need in the Middle East?

The dust and extreme heat call for IP55 or IP65, plus heat de-rating; a fully sealed (IP65) frame protects the windings from sand ingress.

What should I choose for tropical Southeast Asia?

High humidity and rain favour IP55 or higher, tropicalised insulation and anti-corrosion treatment, with the motor de-rated for warm ambient.

Which standards should export motors meet?

IEC 60034 is the international base; add region-specific ones such as GOST / EAC for the EAEU, IS for India, INMETRO for Brazil and SANS for South Africa.
