Why choose a PMSM?

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) use permanent magnets in the rotor, so they need no rotor current or slip. This gives higher efficiency (commonly IE4/IE5), higher torque density and a lower temperature rise than an equivalent induction motor.
