Efficiency classes: IE2, IE3, IE4

Motor efficiency is labelled IE: IE2 (standard), IE3 (high), IE4 (super-premium) and IE5 (ultra-premium). The higher the class, the less electrical energy is lost as heat. For equipment that runs continuously all year, the savings from an IE4 motor can be substantial.

Is IE4 worth it?

What overseas buyers ask

Many international buyers ask: “What efficiency class are your motors? Can you reach IE4?” This matters especially in the EU, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The best route is to tell us the target market and duty, and we match the series and efficiency class accordingly.

How to choose

  1. Determine load type and annual running hours.
  2. Consider the efficiency regulation in the target market.
  3. Compare the payback of IE3 vs IE4.
  4. Send us the duty; we recommend the right series (YE3, HV Y, TYCP PMSM).
